The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of DeAmo Murphy as the new Interim Executive Director for the Intercultural Community Center – Dearborn (ICCD). DeAmo joined ICCD’s monthly task force meetings about a year ago and has been instrumental in advancing our work.

DeAmo brings a wealth of experience to ICCD, currently holding multiple key positions in other local organizations. He provides Strategic Partnerships Consulting at Banks & Company (Detroit), serves as the Community Partnerships Advisor for National Faith Homebuyers (NFH), and is a dedicated board member and Secretary at the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM), now in his second term. He is also a member of the Detroit Master Plan Advisory Group.

From 2018 to 2024, DeAmo was the Director of External Affairs for the Opportunity Resource Fund (OppFund), a Michigan Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI).There, he helped enhanced OppFund’s public profile, assisted with investor relations, and cultivated partnerships with a diverse array of stakeholders. He also developed and facilitated the Justice Fund Initiative (JFI), focusing on outreach and community education.

He has over 30 years of experience across the political, non-profit, and community relations sectors. Previously his roles have been with the Wayne County Commission, Project Vote, the Michigan Legislature, and the NAACP (National & State Conference-MI). His extensive background also includes serving as a Lead Strategist, Campaign Manager, Consultant, Political Commentator, and holding top leadership roles in two local non-profits.

DeAmo majored in Psychology at Tuskegee University. He is a certified Life Coach (HCI) and has received additional training from the Wellstone Institute, the Center for Progressive Leadership, and the Gamaliel Foundation.

Known for his motto, “I Make Teams Better!”, DeAmo Murphy’s leadership and strategic vision are expected to help drive ICCD forward during his tenure. The Board of Directors looks forward to the continued growth and impact of ICCD under his guidance.
