OUR COMMUNITY

Our Partners

League of Women Voters Dearborn-Dearborn Heights

Our mission is to address and confront structural racism and systemic poverty in our communities through awareness, reflection and purposeful action. We provide educational programs on anti-racism work, promote social justice related resources, and organize volunteers to support local community outreach programs.

Opportunity Resource Fund

OppFund is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) community development financial institution serving the entire State of Michigan. We are a catalyst for positive change, be it funding affordable housing, enabling job creation, supporting small businesses, providing affordable mortgages, or funding the development of great commercial spaces.

While our name has changed over the years (you may have known us as Michigan Housing Trust Fund and/or McGehee Interfaith Loan Fund),

OppFund’s entire team and Board of Trustees remain firmly committed to our mission, vision, and core values as we enter our fourth decade working for social and economic justice.

Our Mission

Opportunity Resource Fund provides loans to create equitable, economic, and sustainable opportunities throughout Michigan – one person, one job, one home at a time.

Our Vision
We envision homes providing shelter for generations of families; successful small businesses creating jobs; and vibrant community facilities.

HB2E

Homage to Black Excellence Mission is to celebrate, promote and honor Black Excellence in all forms from literature to art to music. Many commercial district corridors across the country are still wanting to find innovative ways to heal from remaining remnants of racism, bigotry, discrimination and segregation. We develop and invest within main streets to acknowledge and address racialize inequities in suburban cities and inspire families, friends and neighbors to reckon, forgive and enjoy annual celebrations down their Main Street while engaging all people to experience reparations, equity, diversity and inclusion (R.E.D.I.).

Littlefield Action for Social Justice

Green Schoolyards Coalition

Green Schoolyards America seeks to transform asphalt-covered school grounds into park-like green spaces that improve children’s well-being, learning, and play while contributing to their communities’ ecological health and climate resilience.

Blessings in a Backpack

Every weekend of the school year, Blessings in a Backpack gives 270 Dearborn kids who might otherwise go hungry something to be thankful for – a bag full of yummy, nutritious food that can help at home, or come back to school as a fortifying snack. Blessings in a Backpack works towards a world where a child does not have to feel lucky to receive such a basic necessity, but many still go without.
