MOSES: Metropolitan Organizing Strategy Enabling Strength

MOSES is a community-organizing nonprofit serving residents of Detroit, Michigan, and its surrounding metropolitan region. We support the development of strong grassroots leaders and facilitate campaigns to address social justice issues.

We organize Detroit Metro communities to deal with burning social justice issues. We find and coach strong grassroots leaders and mount broad coalitions. We pinpoint exactly who has the power to change public policy for the better, and we get good things done for the common good.

League of Women Voters Dearborn-Dearborn Heights

The League of Women Voters was founded in 1920 by leaders of the women’s suffrage movement who believed in the power of women to create a more perfect democracy.  The League is proud to be non-partisan, neither supporting nor opposing candidates or political parties at any level of government, but always working to protect and expand voting rights and ensure everyone is represented in our democracy.

An activist, grassroots organization, the League has been working for over 100 years to empower voters and defend democracy through advocacy, education, and litigation, at the local, state, and national levels.

The Dearborn-Dearborn Heights League of Women Voters was formed in December 1951.  Most people know our League because of our candidate forums, our annual publication “Who’s Who: Your Elected Officials”, our paper voter guides, and our online voter guide at www.vote411.org.

Blessings in a Backpack

Every weekend of the school year, Blessings in a Backpack gives 270 Dearborn kids who might otherwise go hungry something to be thankful for – a bag full of yummy, nutritious food that can help at home, or come back to school as a fortifying snack. Blessings in a Backpack works towards a world where a child does not have to feel lucky to receive such a basic necessity, but many still go without.
